Rapture I/O library released

London, 5th September 2011

Today we're making a first beta release of the Rapture I/O library. As part of the core foundations upon which the Rapture platform has been built, the I/O libraries provide unified stream and URL handling methods, along with a host of other useful utilities.

Whilst created as part of Rapture, the libraries are in no way tied to the platform, and provide a convenient, flexible, predictable and adaptable API for URL and stream handling.

Rapture I/O's features include unification of Java's byte and character streaming classes, a DSL for path-like URLs, methods for posting to URLs, neater support for filehandling, along with convenient encryption, encoding and digest utilities.

Rapture I/O is still in beta, and will remain so until its API stabilizes and is shown to be production-ready, but for now it is available from the downloads page.
